Juanita Storey Jaynes, 77, died Sunday, March 16, 2014 at the Burke Palliative Care Center. Born in Burke County, NC on March 23, 1936, she was the daughter of the late James Grayson Storey and Florence Louise Allman Storey. Juanita was a lifetime member of North Morganton United Methodist Church and sang in the choir for many years. She retired from SGL Carbon after 23 years as personnel coordinator. Mrs. Jaynes was an artist for Drexel Heritage, Knob Creek, and Masterpiece Furniture Companies. She made wedding cakes, many of which she gifted to the couple, and was a member of Pilot Club in Morganton.Juanita is survived by her husband, Jimmie Lee Jaynes of the home; children, Douglas Neal Jaynes of Burnet, TX, Lynn Jaynes Honeycutt and her husband, Mike, of Kannapolis, NC, and Nathaniel Lee Jaynes and his wife, Theresa, of Morganton; grandchildren, Grayson Jaynes, David Jaynes, Tricia Boyles, Paul Boyles, Jerri Dale, Michael Honeycutt, Jr., Dana Honeycutt, Jessica Privette, Victoria Jaynes, and Rebecca Jaynes; five great-grandchildren; and a sister, Katherine Storey Clontz.In addition to her parents, Juanita was preceded in death by her brother, James Grayson Storey, Jr.The funeral will be held at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, March 19, 2014 at North Morganton United Methodist Church with the Rev. Kathie Clontz Sherrill, the Rev. Paul Christie, and the Rev. Neill Shaw officiating. Entombment will follow in Burke Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friends at the church from 1-2:00 pm prior to the service.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to North Morganton United Methodist Church, 990 Sanford Drive, Morganton, NC 28655 or to Burke Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc., 1721 Enon Road, Valdese, NC 28690.Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
