The Reverend Roger Brackett will officiate a private family graveside service at 12:00 p.m., Thursday, October 31, 2013 in remembrance of Mrs. Juanita Reeps Patton at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Candler, NC. In God’s grace and with great faith and love, Mrs. Patton left us on Monday, October 28, 2013.Mrs. Patton was born in Saratoga, NC to the late William W. Whitley and Hattie Elizabeth Garner Whitley. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husbands, Walter "Lester" Reeps (1980) and John M. Patton (1998); a sister, Jeanette W. Bower; and two brothers, J.W. Whitley and Irvin Whitley.She leaves behind the pride and joys of her life, her family: daughters, Patricia Williams of Morganton, Carol Johnston of Candler, and Phyllis Whitt and her husband, Bruce, of Candler; grandchildren, Donna Wright and her husband, Jeremy, Julia Miller, Shelia Perkins and her husband, David, Dianne Erdy and her husband, Matt, Trace Johnston Crum, and Beau Whitt and his wife, Holly; great-grandchildren, Shannon Swink and her husband, Brandon Bowen, Dawson Perkins, Brody Wright, Trey Erdy, and Lily Crum; her dedicated friend and caregiver, Margaret Morrison and her husband, John; and a long-time faithful friend, Donald Williams.Mrs. Patton was a faithful member of Gibbs Chapel Wesleyan Church where she was very active and held several positions until her health began to fail. Before moving to Morganton, she was a member of Piney Mountain United Methodist Church in Candler, NC.Memorial contributions may be made to Gibbs Chapel Wesleyan Church, 1741 Jamestown Road, Morganton, NC 28655 or to the Salvation Army, 412-A West Fleming Drive, Morganton, NC 28655.Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
