Joseph Willard "Bud" Ramsey, 86, of Morganton, NC died Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at the Charles George V.A. Medical Center, Asheville, NC. Born September 27, 1928 in Burke County, NC, he was a son of the late Otis and Flavia Chapman Ramsey. He was a U. S. Army veteran serving in Germany following World War II. Bud retired from Drexel-Heritage Furnishings where he was employed for thirty-seven years. He was an avid golfer, hunter, and fisherman, and was a devoted fan of NASCAR and the Tarheels of U. N. C. Mr. Ramsey was a member of Mount Home Baptist Church where he had served as a Deacon, an R.A. leader, and on many church committees. He was a member of the Senior Adult Men's Sunday School Class. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Lee Ramsey and wife, Helen, Millard Ramsey and wife, Patsy, and Fredrick Ramsey.

Surviving to cherish his memory are his wife of fifty-nine years, Charlene Parker Ramsey of the home; a daughter, Rebecca "Becky" Ramsey Longacre of Orlando, FL; grandchildren, Jenny and Daniel Longacre; siblings, Geneva R. Bradshaw of Lawndale, NC, John Ramsey of Vale, NC, Jack Ramsey, Bill Ramsey, Jeanette R. Chapman and husband, Fred, Don Ramsey, Geraldine R. Lail and husband, Benny all of Morganton, and Marlene R. Cooper of Valdese, NC; a sister-in-law, Ruby Ramsey of Glen Alpine, NC.

The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Saturday, May 23, 2015 at Mount Home Baptist Church. The funeral will follow at 1:00 p.m. at the church with the Rev. Jerry Gamble officiating. Burial with military honors by the N. C. National Guard will follow in the church cemetery. Memorial gifts may be made to the Mount Home Baptist Church Graceful Giving Fund, 2272 Mount Home Church Rd., Morganton, NC 28655.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
