Joseph “Joe” Simmons, 85, of Morganton, passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side, Thursday, September 23, 2021. Born on August 11, 1936, he was the son of the late Joseph and Addie Simmons. Joe was a member of First Advent Christian Church. He retired from Western Carolina Youth Corrections Center. After retirement, he worked at Silver Creek Golf Course part time. Joe was a loving husband and father. He loved golfing and fishing.
Joe is survived by his wife of 62 years, Dottie Tuttle Simmons; daughter, April Dawn Simmons; brothers-in-law, Andy Tuttle, Monty Tuttle, Terry Seagle; sister-in-law, Penny Stephens.
Due to the ongoing Pandemic, the family is going to have a private family service.
Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
