Joseph “Joe” Bennett Whisenant, 82, of Morganton, NC, passed away Saturday, July 30, 2022.
Born in Burke County, NC on February 18, 1940, he was the son of the late Walter Glenn Whisenant and Beulah Lee Whisenant Whisenant. Joe was a veteran of the NC National Guard and owner of Joe’s Electric.
Mr. Whisenant is survived by his wife, Dorothy Rader Whisenant; children, Katherine Allison and Ken Daye (Tammy); grandchildren, Seth Allison (Mindy), Ashley Daye, Kendra Daye, and Kendall Daye; great-grandchildren; Lillian Allison, Grayson Allison, Wyatt Allison, and Sophie Allison; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by four siblings, Alice Perkins, Herb Whisenant, Russ Whisenant, and Vera Ollis.
The memorial service will be held at 3 p.m., Tuesday, August 2, 2022 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with Rev. Paul McClure officiating. The family will greet friends following the service.
