Preacher Joseph Clay Bradley, 94 of Morganton went home to be with his Lord and Savior, October 12, 2017. Mr. Bradley was born March 2, 1923 in Madison County, NC to the late Christopher Clay Bradley and Bessie Lee Jenkins Bradley. Preacher Joe was a loving husband of 67 years to the late Mary Griffin Bradley, to whom he loved dearly. He was a devoted Dad and Grandad. He was a God-called Preacher. He faithfully served the Lord for over 55 years while pastoring 7 churches. He was a member of Mountain View #1 Baptist Church. Preacher Joe was a hard worker and retired from Drexel Heritage Plant 3 and 5. He enjoyed gardening and helping others.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by sons, Preacher James and Preacher Harvey Lee Bradley; grandson, Daniel Bradley; brothers, Everett and Fred Bradley; and sisters, Angie Cox, Ellie Ramsey, Melda Proffit, Ruth Bradley, Robbie Bradley, and Jeanure Bradley.

Mr. Bradley is survived by his children, Mary Jo Blackwell and her husband, Walter, of Winston Salem, Pastor J.C. Bradley and his wife, Blaka, of Icard, and Deborah Haynes and her husband, Gary, of Morganton; sister, Christine and husband, Hoye Coates, of Madison County; seventeen grandchildren; forty-two great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews, and extended family.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m., Sunday, October 15, 2017 at Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center.  The funeral will be held at 3 p.m. in the Colonial Chapel of the funeral home with the Pastor J. C. Bradley and Pastor Charley Bradley officiating.  Burial will follow at Mountain View #1 Baptist Church Cemetery.  At other times the family will be at 1469 Browning View Rd., Morganton.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family.

The family would like to thank Hospice of Catawba for their faithfulness, love, and care for our loved one. We would also like to extend a special thanks to all those that came and ministered unto us with their many acts of love and kindness.
