Jonsey Miranda Swink, 94, of Valdese, NC retired to her mansion in heaven with her husband, Leroy, on Saturday, November 2, 2013. Born in Burke County, NC on January 25, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Wiley Poteat and Phiney Brittain Poteat. Jonsey was a member of Carswell Memorial Baptist Church and was a retired employee of Carolina Shoe. Jonsey was a devoted mother who loved to cook for her family.Mrs. Swink is survived by her daughters, Marie Buff and her husband, Woodrow, of Morganton, Myrtle Cannon and her husband, Joe, of Connelly Springs, NC, Dianne White of Valdese, and Revonda Tweed of Morganton; sons, Rex Tweed and his wife, Ellen Poteet, of Morganton and Fred Tweed and his wife, Nora, of Rockwood, TN; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.In addition to her parents, Jonsey was preceded in death by her husband, Leroy Swink; brothers, Willard, Winston, Conyon, Monyon, and Howard Poteat; a sister, Jina Denton; a grandson, Gary Buff; and a son-in-law, Kenneth White.The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff of Autumn Care, Burke Hospice, and Dr. Johanson.The funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, November 4, 2013 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with the Rev. Donald Lovelace officiating. Burial will follow in Burke Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10:00 -11:00 a.m. prior to the service. At other times the family will be at the residence of the daughter, Dianne White, 109 Old Colony Dr. SW, Valdese.Memorial contributions may be made to Burke Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc., 1721 Enon Road, Valdese, NC 28690.
