Johnny Dale “Spider” Thompson, 70, of Morganton, NC, joined his mother and grandmother in heaven on Tuesday, April 22, 2025.
Born in Burke County, NC on July 28, 1954, he was the son of the late Virginia Gail Thompson Simpson. Spider was a talented musician and played the guitar and harmonica. He also enjoyed fishing.
Mr. Thompson is survived by his long-time companion, Alice “Cricket” Clark; brother, Lonnie Thompson (Leigh); niece, Angela Thompson Stahl (Jeff); nephew, Lance Riddle; and great-niece, Trinity.
In addition to his mother, Spider was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Coleen Thompson.
The graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, April 26, 2025 at Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery with a friend of the family, Jimmy Fortenberry, officiating.
Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
