Johnny Aaron Piercy, Sr., 89, of Morganton, NC, went to his Heavenly home on Tuesday, September 2, 2025.
Born in Avery County, NC on January 27, 1936, he was the son of the late Vollie Adam Piercy, Sr. and Ruby Jackson Piercy.
Johnny was a member of Burkemont Baptist Church. He enjoyed spending time with his family, long Sunday drives, and trips to the mountains of Tennessee or the beaches of North Carolina. Johnny’s hobbies included fishing and working on older generation cars. Mr. Piercy was a jack-of-all-trades. In his earlier years he delivered for the News Herald, worked at Waldensian Bakery, and worked in both knitting and textile mills. He owned and operated Piercy’s 24-Hour Towing, Wrecker Services, and Garage, and he also owned Piercy’s Mobile Home Park. Johnny was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
Those left to cherish his memory include his belove wife of 66 years, Willa Dean Hicks Piercy; son, Johnny Aaron Piercy, Jr. (Nancy); daughter, Wanda Piercy Reep; grandchildren, Jessie Adam Piercy (Jessica), Michael Matthews (Whitney), Matthew Davis Reep, and Krystle Dawn Reep (fiancé, Randy Gambrell); step-grandchildren, Nicole Klutz and Kandi Peyton (Daniel); great-grandchildren, Jossalyn Piercy, Jillian Piercy, Keira Dawn Shoun, Arielle Ray Lail, Haley Klutz, Jesse Klutz, and Koda Peyton; sisters, Doris McCall and Eliabeth “Libby” Letterman; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
In addition to his parents, Johnny was preceded in death by brothers, Howard William Piercy and Vollie Adam “Bill” Piercy, Jr.; and sisters, Betty Jean Piercy Hawkins and Marie Piercy Goins (Roy).
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m., Sunday, September 7, 2025 at Burkemont Baptist Church. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. in the church with Rev. Dr. Luke Lane and Rev. Dr. Eddy Bunton officiating. Burial will follow in the church Cemetery.
Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Wanda, your father will really be missed. He was such a nice man and a good role model of what a father should be. I enjoyed the time when he used his car hauler to take our vehicle to the shop over in Hudson and the conversations we had, I will be praying for Willa and the family for comfort and peace through these difficult days ahead. So long my friend until we meet again.

So sorry for your loss. My mom and dad loved Johnny and often talked about going to his house. Johnny also sold my dad a Shelby Mustag that he drove for years. May God hold you close family in your time of mourning
