Johnnie Ray “John” Martin

Johnnie Ray “John” Martin, 63, passed away Monday, May 1 2017, at his home in Monroe, NC. John was born May 24, 1953 in Burke County, NC, the oldest of four children. Following school, he entered into a life-long career in textiles and chemical sales that spanned the state.

Walking with him hand-in-hand during several years of declining health was his very devoted wife Annette Peeler Martin.

John is survived by his wife Annette; mother, Lucille Martin; son Jeremy Martin and wife, Andrea; daughter, BJ Brittain and spouse, Scott Farris; grandchildren, Pamela Baker and husband, Bryant, Candace Farris, Noah and Grant Martin; expected great-granddaughter, Blaire Ryleigh Baker; brother, Robert Martin and wife, Cindy; sisters Kathy Womack and Cheryl Hand and husband, Ed; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends that he adored.

John is preceded in death by his father Nixon Martin and his bother-in-law Danny Womack.

The family will greet friends from 5 to 7 pm, Monday, May 8, 2017 at Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center in Morganton, NC.  A family memorial will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one's choosing.
