Johnese Eudora Houck Dean, 95, of Morganton, NC passed away Monday, November 29, 2021. Born in Caldwell County, NC on October 24, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Lula Hildred Houck. In addition to her mother, Johnese was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Jacob S. Dean; step-father, E.C. Houck; brother, Thomas Houck; and sons-in-law, J.P. Carr, Tony Triplett, Lew Edwards, and David Abee.
Along with her husband, she loved working in her garden and spending time with family. She loved the Lord and was a member of Zion Memorial United Methodist Church where she was involved in many church activities.
Johnese is survived by her daughters, Barbara Gail Carr, Glendora Edwards, and Carol Abee; grandchildren, Angel Carr-Lang (Jason), Phil Carr, Mark Carr (Kim), Renee Triplett Church (Mike), Tammy Triplett Carrell (Matt), Mike Abee (Jeanette), and Jennifer Abee (Ian Smith); step-grandchild, Amy Chegash (Andy); numerous great and great-great-grandchildren; brothers-in-law, Harold and Paul Dean; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and her beloved church family.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m., Thursday, December 2, 2021 at Zion Memorial United Methodist Church. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. in the church with Dr. Stephen Pickard and Rev. George Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Zion Memorial United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
