John Victor Hutchins

John Victor Hutchins, 63, of Rob Carswell St., Morganton, NC died Tuesday, February 24, 2009 at Mission Memorial Hospital in Asheville, NC following a brief illness. Born in McDowell County, NC on May 13, 1945, he was a son of the late John Hutchins and Helen Williams Hutchins. John was an active member of Cross Memorial Baptist Church where he was a deacon, Sunday school director, and trustee. He had worked for Sypris Technologies since 1978.John is survived by his wife, Jennie Chapman Hutchins of the home; a daughter, Mary Hutchins Nelson of Morganton; a brother, David Hutchins of Morganton; a sister, Margaret Hutchins of Glen Alpine, NC; grandsons, James Wyatt, Richard Wyatt, and Jonathan Hutchins; a great-grandson, Christopher Thames; a daughter-in-law, Brenda B. Hutchins; and a number of nieces and nephews.In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by a son, Jonathan Hutchins.The funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, February 27, 2009 at Cross Memorial Baptist Church with Reverends Jeff Beach, Jerry Campbell, and Steve Walsh officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Sossoman Funeral Home where the body will remain until placed in the church thirty minutes prior to the funeral hour. At other times the family will be at the residence on Rob Carswell St., Morganton.
