Dearest brother and uncle, for 60 years we didn’t know about each other, yet when life had finally reunited us, our connection at once felt like we had always been together. Living thousands of kilometers away from each other, we only had the chance to meet once. But the wonderful memories we have created during this intensive time together will last forever, they will be with us every day, they will keep you in our hearts, keep you in our lives, forever. They will remind us in every moment what a wonderful brother, what a wonderful uncle, what a wonderful man you have been and will always be. We will miss you John and will for always keep you in our hearts, always keep you in our prayers. - Sincerely, your Brother Robbie and Nephew Michael from Germany with families

There is no one I admire more than Woody. He lived with integrity. John was a friend to many, always willing to lend a hand, compassionate, and a patient mentor. When Woody took on an endeavor, excellence was always first on his list. I learned so much from him and will always look up to his values, example, zest for life, goodness, and sincerity. I humbly count myself among the many privileged souls John’s life touched and are better people for having known him. A life well lived.
