John L. Hebert, 57, formerly of Port St., Morganton died Sunday, April 27, 2008, at Britthaven of Morganton following a period of declining health. He was born in Alamance County, NC on January 14, 1951 and was a son of the late George Claude Hebert and Harriett Boggs Hebert. Mr. Hebert worked in construction and manufacturing and was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church. John volunteered with Burke United Christian Ministries; was active at the Burke County Senior Center; and his hobbies included photography and ceramics.

Surviving are a brother, Robert C. Hebert, of Shelby; two nieces; and one nephew. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Harold Hebert; a sister, Sharon Farbsten; and a nephew, Robert A. Hebert.

The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 29, 2008, in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with Rev. Michael F. Riley officiating. Burke will follow at Burke Memorial Park. The family will receive friends an hour before the service. Memorial contributions may be made to Calvary Lutheran Church Benevolent Fund, 119 N.
