John Henry Seitz, Jr., 79, of Morganton, NC, passed away Saturday, October 25, 2025.

Born in Burke County, NC on October 24, 1946, he was the son of the late John Henry Seitz, Sr. and Ann Dale Seitz.

John was a US Army veteran of the Vietnam War and member of Zion Memorial United Methodist Church. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, a huge Tarheel fan, and a tenacious card player. John was a loving and devoted husband, father, and pawpaw.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 58 years, Lynne Tolbert Seitz; daughter, Kara Harrison; grandchildren, Heather C. Everhardt (Austin), Will Copeland, and Kirsten Harrison (Haden); and sisters, Maxine Propst (Jerry) and Margaret Seitz.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Melissa S. Copeland.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m., Saturday, November 1, 2025 at Zion Memorial United Methodist Church. The funeral will be held at 3 p.m. in the church with Rev. Allen Boliek officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors provided by the NC National Guard.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
