John Daniel Shelton

John Daniel Shelton, 61, of Conley Road, Morganton, NC died Thursday, March 11, 2010 at his residence following a period of declining health. Born in Buncombe Co., NC on September 27, 1948, he was the son of Koeppie King Shelton and the late George Shelton. John was a member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church. He was a loving husband, father, and friend to everyone. He loved Harley-Davidson motorcycles and bluegrass music, and lived life for his kids and grandkids.John is survived by his wife of 41 years, Patricia Carswell Shelton of the home; daughters, Amy Shelton George and husband, Lewis, of Lenoir, NC and Glenda Shelton Jackson and husband, Scott, of Connelly Springs, NC; grandchildren, Brett Daniel Stamey, Mason Garrett George, Shelby Lee George, Vincent Palermo, Drake Jackson, Clinton George, and Casey Coffey; great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn Coffey and Briar Lewis George; a sister, Brenda Stilwell and husband, Larry; and numerous cousins and beloved friends.The funeral will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, March 14, 2010 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with Reverends Charles Shelton and Larry Cline officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:30 until 3:00 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery on Enola Road.
