Joel Eunic Carpenter, 62, of Marion, NC, went home to be with the Lord Sunday, Feb. 12, 2023 after a long battle with cancer.

Born in Burke County, Nc on Dec. 3, 1960, he was the son of Bessie Huffman and the late Thomas Jewel Carpenter.

Joel was a veteran of the US Army. He enjoyed fishing, music, watching and playing sports, and especially playing his guitar. He had a passion for life and always had a smile on his face.

Joel is survived by his daughter, Ashley Carpenter (William Duckworth); grandson, Andrew Duckworth; and his mother.

In addition to his father, Joel was preceded in death by numerous aunts and uncles.

The graveside service will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2023 at Burke Memorial Park with Rev. Randy Clark officiating. Military honors will be provided by the NC National Guard.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
