Jo Ann Owens Whisnant, 68, of Morganton, NC, passed away Friday, December 15, 2023.

Born in Burke County, NC on September 24, 1955, she was the daughter of the late Clyde Juniper Owens and Janie Bell Whisenant Owens.

Jo Ann was a loving, caring lady who put her family first. She enjoyed working puzzles and watching her grandbabies laugh and play.

Mrs. Whisnant is survived by her children, Gregory Fox, Stacey Fox, Nicholas Fox, Kimberley Sechrist, Winter Fox, Brooke Fox, Stephanie Durkee, Rebecca Davis, and Jody Norton; twelve grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; siblings, “Shad” William Owens, Jack Owens, Rex Owens, and Susan Hawkins; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Jo Ann was preceded in death by her first husband, Leroy Fox; and second husband, Garry Whisnant.

Services for Jo Ann will be held at a later date.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
