Jo Ann Carswell Segars, 74, of Morganton, NC, passed away Monday, December 8, 2025 to be with her heavenly family.
Born in Burke County, NC on June 6, 1951, she was the daughter of the late June Alexander Carswell and Inez Docia Jamison Carswell. Jo Ann had attended Faith Temple Tabernacle. She had worked at Twin Circle Grill, Days Inn Restaurant, Cooper Keetel, and Drexel Knitting. Jo Ann loved to go to yard sales and thrift stores.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughters, Paula Lewis (Phil Hensley) and Lisa Greer; sons-in-law, Kenneth Greer and Randy Lewis; grandchildren, Jeremiah Carswell, Dustin Lewis, Corey Epley, Amber Lewis, Abby Clarke, Heidi Crawley, and Lucas Crawley; great-grandchildren, Aiden, Cameron, and Cloe Epley (and their mother, Heather Wooten); and fur-babies, Chubby, Patches, and Hope.
In addition to her parents, Jo Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Grady Lee Segars; brothers, Jimmy Carswell and Robert Carswell; and daughter, Vickie Lee Segars.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m., Sunday, December 14, 2025 at Sossoman Funeral Home. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. in the Colonial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Michael Webb officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery.
Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
