Jimmy Ray Causby, 49 of Morganton passed away on Friday, October 6, 2017. He was born in Burke County on October 19, 1967 to Kathy Causby-Hussey and the late Jimmy Frank Causby.
Jimmy Ray was a member of Praise Assembly of God and had a strong love for the Lord. He was a graduate of Freedom High School in 1986. Jimmy Ray worked at Drexel Heritage and was an electrician. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed being outdoors.
Jimmy Ray is survived by his wife, Sherry Crawford Causby; children, Jake Causby (Stephanie) and Chelsea Causby; grandson, Jeremy Zimmerman; and granddaughter, Marlie Grace Gidney. In addition to his mother, Kathy Causby-Hussey he is also survived by his step-dad, Tom Oakley; aunt, Carol Buchanan (Bobby Rhodes); uncle, Vince Foster (Shannon); and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his father, Jimmy Ray was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Marvin and Kathleen Foster; paternal grandparents, Frank and Louise Causby; and uncles, Bobby Lee Foster and Sterling (Shad) Causby.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at Sossoman Funeral Home. The funeral will be 2 p.m., Thursday, October 12 in the Colonial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Jerry Gamble officiating. He will be laid to rest at Forest Hill Cemetery following the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Mt. Home Baptist Church Building Fund, 2272 Mt. Home Church Road, Morganton, NC 28655; Vessels of Mercy, PO Box 8998, Morganton, NC 28680; or to Christ Centered Recovery Program, PO Box 8399, Morganton, NC 28680.
