Jimmy Lewis Singleton, 80, of Morganton, NC, passed away Monday, August 28, 2023.

Born in Burke County, NC on September 21, 1942, he was the son of the late Lewis Albert Singleton and Rena Ritchey Singleton.

Jimmy was a member and Elder of Marketplace Church in Hickory. He performed his own outreach by helping people in need. Mr. Singleton enjoyed fishing and camping, and later in his life he also enjoyed painting.

Jimmy is survived by his wife, Iris Beck Singleton; daughter, Wendy Myers (Pastor Mark); granddaughters, Amber Welner (Matthew) and Annabelle Myers; great-grandchildren, Addison and Jaxon Welner; brother, Cecil Jennings Saunders, Jr. (Peggy); brother-in-law, Jerry Beck; niece, Tammy Benfield; and nephew, Jake Saunders.

In addition to his parents, Jimmy was preceded in death by a grandson, Jamey lee Myers.

A graveside service will be held at noon, Wednesday, August 30, 2023 at St. Mary’s/ St. Stephen Episcopal Church Cemetery. A celebration of Jimmy’s life will be held at 6 p.m., Saturday, September 23, 2023 at Marketplace Church with Pastor Mark Myers officiating.
