Jim F. Wishert, 72, of Morganton died Thursday, August 22, 2013. He was born in Chester County, SC on December 10, 1941 and was a son of the late Paul Wishert and Maymie Elizabeth Faulkner Wishert Traylor. In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his grandson, Adam Benson, and by brothers, Paul Edwin Wishert, Joe Traylor, and Carl Traylor.

Jim was a retired U. S. Army veteran of the Vietnam Conflict where he served in the military police corrections and criminal investigation division. He was a member of Catawba Valley Masonic Lodge #217, Mimosa Chapter of the Eastern Star where he was also past Worthy Grand Patron of the NC Eastern Star, and a member of Burke County Shrine Club. Jim was of the Methodist faith.Surviving are his wife, Judy Carol Yarbrough Wishert of the home; his children and their spouses, Angie and Korey Benson of Morganton and Jamie and Kerri Wishert of Roswell, GA; a brother, Leon Traylor and his wife, Marie; and grandchildren, Ashleigh, Amy, Amanda, and Abigail Benson and Katie, Mary Jane, and Tripp Wishert.The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 27, 2013, in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with Rev. Butch Osborne officiating. Burial will follow at Burke Memorial Park with military honors conducted by the NC National Guard. Masonic rites will also be conducted by Catawba Valley Masonic Lodge #217. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Monday at Sossoman Funeral Home.
