Jim Epley, 78 of Morganton, NC went home to be with the Lord, Tuesday, July 4, 2023. Born on January 30, 1945, he was the son of the late Fred and Ruby Epley. Jim was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who loved his family dearly. He retired from Broyhill Furniture after 25 years as an electrician. Jim loved to garden, watch Westerns on the TV, but most of all, loved doing things for others and cooking BBQ.

Jim is survived by his children, James Epley (Tammy), Jeff Epley (Loretta) Tammy Epley Bradley (Johnny), Lisa Epley Shoun (Wayne), Lisa Pitts Watson (Nelson Rodriguez) Jeff Pitts (Olivia); grandchildren, Wayne Shoun Jr., Jonathan Shoun, Jason Parker, Brandy Hughes, Michael Dyson, Taylor Epley, Delaney Epley, Braden Epley, Ansley Epley, Amber Hollifield; great-grandchildren, Keira Shoun, Bailey Hughes, Ava Hughes, Wrenley Dyson, Oliver Dyson, Ridge Parker, Noah Parker, Elie Hollifield, Elijah Hollifield, Hunter Hollifield; brothers, Richard Epley, Bob Epley; sister, Shirley Epley Blankenship.

In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Kaye Epley; daughter, Debbie Epley Dyson; sisters, Faye Epley Pearson, Betty Epley Carico, Mary Epley Smith.

The family will receive friends from 1pm until 2pm, Tuesday, July 11, 2023 at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church. Funeral service will be held at 2pm in the church with Rev. Brian Buckner officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
