Jettie Lee Causby went to be with her Heavenly Father on Saturday, January 11, 2020 at the age of 89. She was born April 26th, 1930 to Willard Augustus Holland and Maggie Lail Holland. A lifelong resident of Morganton, N.C., Jettie was known for being a light of love, compassion, and generosity. She combined her passions for gardening and cooking, and was an active member of the Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church community.  “Jet,” as she was lovingly known, was warm, genuine, humble, and kind, with a contagious laugh and an abiding love for the Lord.

Jettie took great pride in caring for her family and friends. The eldest of twelve siblings, she became a nurturer at an early age. She was married to her husband Zeb David Causby for 37 years, and together they raised two sons, Leonard and David.

Jettie is preceded in death by her husband David; her parents Willard and Maggie, and her stepmother Edna Holland; her brother Joe Holland; and her sisters Bertha Epley, Jean Holder, and Frances Brewer.

Jettie leaves behind her sons and daughters-in-law, Leonard and Pam Causby of Morganton, N.C., and David and Natalie Causby of Roswell, G.A. She is also survived by her grandson, Nathan Causby; her granddaughters Olivia Harvey, Brynley Thomas, and Grace Causby; her brothers Charlie Holland, Willard Holland, Jr., John Holland, and Larry Holland; her sisters Doris Garrison, Dayle Holland, and Pearl Norman; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and beloved friends who will miss her dearly. Jettie shared a special relationship with her niece, Teresa Tallent. Our hearts are broken by the loss of this remarkable woman who lived a life devoted to others and served as a disciple of Christ.

A service in Jettie’s honor will be held on Monday, January 13, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church on Conley Road in Morganton, N.C. The family will continue to celebrate Jettie’s life in the fellowship hall after the graveside service.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
