Jesse Ellis McDaniel, age 97, went to be with the Lord on August 25, 2010 and joins his loved ones, beloved wife Addie Mae Braswell McDaniel, who he so affectionately called "the Mae Flower", and his 8 day old son, Jesse Ellis McDaniel, Jr.Our family chain is broken; but as God calls us home one by one, our chain will link again.Addie Mae was a second mother to many and a marvelous cook. Her cakes and pies were made from scratch and each filled with love. Her home was always filled with the wonderful smells of home cooking.Jesse was a welder in Baltimore, Maryland on ships used during World War II. He retired from Valdese Manufacturing and attended the First Advent Christian Church of Morganton. Jesse loved to garden, work on his truck, and spend time at the beach. His summers were spent at Optimist Park, Steele Creek Park, and Myrtle Beach, SC, where his favorite restaurant was Mammy’s Kitchen. Jesse was a good neighbor and a quiet man who never had a harsh word to say about anyone.Surviving are two sisters, Lula B. Braswell of Morganton and Mary E. Pendley of Taylorsville along with their children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. The family extends a special "Thank You" to the staff and owners of Morganton Long Term Care for their exceptional care of Jesse during his stay. Also, a special "Thank You" to the doctors and staff of the ICU unit at Grace Hospital that attended Jesse’s needs during his final hours.Sossoman Funeral Home is serving the family.
