Jerry Mark Grady, 79, of Morganton, NC, passed away Monday, September 7, 2026 after a period of declining health.
Born in Burke County, NC on January 22, 1947, he was the son of the late Ernest David Grady and Hannah Louise Brown Grady.
Jerry was a 1965 graduate of Morganton High School, where he was an avid baseball and football player. He was also a proud US Marine Corps veteran of the Vietnam War. Mr. Grady enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing, or trapping, and he loved watching the Carolina Panthers, the UNC Tarheels, and the Atlanta Braves.
Those left to cherish his memory include his children, Jeremy Grady, Hanna Grady Rienks, and Jason Grady; grandchildren, Halen Rienks, Nolan Rienks, Emma Grady, Madalyn Grady, and Allison Grady; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by two brothers, Jack and Teddy Grady; and two sisters, Virginia Grady and Ernestine Grady.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m., Monday, September 14, 2026 at Sossoman Funeral Home. The graveside service will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Bethel Global Methodist Church Cemetery on Bethel Road with Rev. Michael Harrill officiating.
Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
