Jeanette Barrier Pope

Jeanette Barrier Pope, 71, of Morganton, NC, died Monday, May 2, 2016 at her residence. Born in Burke County, NC on February 11, 1945, she was a daughter of the late Donald and Berkie Barrier.
Mrs. Pope was a loving mother and a wonderful nana. She loved to cook, sew, and was an avid puzzle fan.
Mrs. Pope is survived by her daughters, April Pope of Morganton and Kim Hamby and husband, Richard of Banner Elk; son, Jackie Pope, II and wife, Koren of Morganton; grandchildren, Michael Thomas, Monica Thomas, and Kaylin Pope; and special family members, Gary and Judy Gilbert of Mount Gilead, NC and Larry and Frances Norville of Morganton. She is also survived by brothers, Boyd Barrier and wife, Jean of Glen Alpine and Jay Barrier and wife, Becky of South Carolina, and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Pope was preceded in death by her husband, Jackie W. Pope; brothers, Reid and Ed Barrier; and sister, Leola Buchanan.
The family will receive friends from 3:00 -5:00 p.m., Thursday, May 5, 2016 at Sossoman Funeral Home. The funeral will be 5:00 p.m. in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with friend of the family Amy Snider delivering the eulogy. Burial will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 6, 2016 in Gingercake Cemetery, Jonas Ridge, NC.
