Jean Smith McCraw, 78 of Morganton, NC went to her Heavenly home on November 24, 2021. Born on March 8, 1943, she was the daughter of the late David Smith and Opal Carswell. Jean was a member of First Baptist Church of Glen Alpine. She was a manager at Tasty Freeze and Allison’s Restaurant for over 48 years where she was known as “Momma Jean” or “Nana Jean” to many. Jean was an avid NASCAR fan and loved Bill Elliot and Chase Elliot.

Jean is survived by her husband, Tony Wade McCraw; daughters, Glenda Brown (Walt), Dottie Ledford (Barry Williams); three grandchildren who was her world, Greg Hoyle, Amber Ledford, Katie Ledford; great-grandchildren, Sasha and Isaac Watson, Briella Dula and one more on the way; brothers, JR Smith, Dean Smith, Grady Smith (Marian); sisters, Virginia Smith (Ray), Elizabeth Parker (Charles), Ellen Billings (Jim), Faye McFarland; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Jean is preceded in death by her brother, Ray Smith; and her canine grandson, Hunter Bug.

The family will receive friends from 2pm until 4pm, Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at Sossoman Funeral Home. A memorial service will follow in the Colonial Chapel of the funeral home at 4pm with the Rev. John Terry officiating.
