Jean Moses Brittain, 75, of Morganton left this life for Heaven Monday, October 10, 2011 at College Pines in Valdese. Born June 29, 1936 in Burke County, she was the daughter of the late Ben Moses and Betty Moses Crook. Jean was a faithful and loving member of Bible Baptist Church and went on several mission trips. Jean was a former employee of Hanes Corporation and Roses in Morganton. Jean was an avid gardener and she especially enjoyed the flowers she produced.Left to cherish her memory are her children, Steve Brittain and wife, Pat, Terri Miller and husband, David, and Chris Brittain and wife, Crystal, all of Morganton, Karren Fulton and husband, Tim, and Robin Barrier, all of Drexel; a special friend, Wayne Cline of Granite Falls with whom Jean enjoyed traveling and attending mission trips; twelve grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and seven step-grandchildren.In addition to her parents, Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Otis Brittain; and a brother, Douglas Moses.Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m., Thursday, October 13, 2011 at Bible Baptist Church with Rev. Ricky Watkins officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center. At other times, the family will be at Jean?s residence. Memorial contributions may be made to Burke Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc., 1721 Enon Rd., Valdese, NC 28690.
