Jean Hall Forgy, 93 of Morganton, passed away on Saturday, August 25, 2018.  Jean was born on the July 4, 1925, in the small town of Auburn, Kentucky.  She was the third and youngest child of the late Emily and Marmaduke Hall.  Jean was a cheerleader for Auburn School, where she met and fell in love with Byron Forgy, a member of the basketball team.  As seniors, they were two of only 16 in their graduating class, but their romance blossomed and they were married in 1945 while Jean was working as a secretary and Byron was in pharmacy school.  The partnership thrived for over 67 years in Kentucky, then Florida, and finally, since the early 1980’s, in North Carolina until Byron passed away in 2013.  Jean spent her life as a loving wife and vital work partner for Byron, as well as a caring and giving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Jean is survived by her daughter, Kathy Pitts and husband, Randy; son, Keith Forgy and fiancé, Tammy both of Morganton; granddaughters, Kelli Williard and husband, Dean of Greensboro and Kristi Whitley of Durham; and great-grandsons, Ryan and Bryce Martinez, and Tucker Whitley.

For her thoughtful, careful, and peaceful ways, she will forever be remembered and dearly missed by all those who knew and loved her.

The family received friends from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m., Sunday at Sossoman Funeral Home. A crypt side service was held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, August 26, 2018 in the Burke Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel with Rev. Tom Lineberger officiating, entombment followed.
