Jason Scott Jenkins, 40, of Chesapeake, VA went to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 4, 2018 after a 9 year battle with brain cancer.  He went peacefully while surrounded by his loved ones.

Born in Caldwell County, NC on April 30, 1977, he was the son of Gilda Summerlin Storie and the late Jim Jenkins.  He graduated from West Caldwell High School in 1995 and had a long career in the cable business.  Jason loved to sing, play guitar, golf, fish, hunt, and travel.  He was talented, kind, funny, outgoing, and loved by all who knew him.  Most precious to him were God, his wife, and his family.

Jason leaves behind his beloved wife, Amanda Jenkins; mother, Gilda Storie and husband, Alton; sister, Traci Crane; 5 nieces; 2 nephews; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

In addition to his father, Jason was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents.

The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 2 p.m., Thursday, February 8, 2018 at Catawba Valley Baptist Church (107 Valley View Street, Morganton).  The funeral will follow at 2 p.m. in the church with Pastors Kevin Broyhill, Dean Hart, and David Orders officiating.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family.
