Jason Heath Alexander, 39, died at home on Friday, May 6, 2022 after a brief illness.

Born in Burke County, NC on September 6, 1982, he was the son of Dr. David Eugene Alexander and Emily Caroline Heath Alexander.  Jason grew up in Burke County and was a graduate of Freedom High School.  He also attended Western Piedmont Community College and UNC Asheville.

Jason was an avid aviation buff and could hear a plane and tell you what it was.  He has traveled to Oshkosh, WI for the last 20 years for AirVenture, an international fly-in air show.  He began attending as an Explorer Scout. He began working the show as a teenager, including running the air strip.

Jason is also known for his writing and his sense of humor.  He has a legion of friends all over the United States.

In 2017, Jason began a new career that has become the love of his life.  He was currently driving for Drake Trucking out of Lincolnton, and was previously with Prime, Inc. out of Springfield, MO.  He loved the trucking life and frequently commented that he was getting paid for traveling this beautiful country.

Jason is survived by his parents, Dr. David and Emily Alexander; brother, Dr. John Alexander and wife, Laura; grandfather, Raymond Heath; uncles and aunts, Bill Heath and wife, Paula, Edward Heath and wife, Kim, Dr. Michael Alexander and wife, Libby, Kathy Robison and husband, John, and Dr. Steven Alexander and wife, Christine; cousins, Stephanie Linsley and husband, Chris, and their children, Blake, Annabelle, and Bryson, Stacie and husband, Dr. Ryan Nankervis, and their children, Henry and Harrison, Candace McNeely and husband, Jordan, and their baby, Lucy, Will Heath, Mackenzie Heath, Mitchell Heath and wife, Lindsey, and their children, Sawyer and Wes, Christopher and Stefan Alexander, and Julia Alexander and Mark Deutsch, and Daniel and Nic Alexander.

Jason was preceded in death by his grandparents, Frances Heath, and Dr. Ray and Lib Alexander;

The memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, May 11, 2022 at First Baptist Church with Dr. Thomas A. Bland, Jr. and Rev. Fred Schuszler officiating.  The family will greet friends in the fellowship hall following the service.
