Jane Odell Wiley Rigsbee, 88, of Morganton, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 13, 2026. Born on May 31, 1937, in Danville, VA, she was the daughter of the late William Thomas Wiley, Sr. and Rebecca Hoskins Wiley.
Jane was a devoted member of First Presbyterian Church of Morganton, where she faithfully served as an Elder and contributed her time and talents to numerous church committees throughout the years.
She retired from Metropolitan Life Insurance Company after many years of employment and later found great joy in her work at Grace Hospital, where she continued to build lasting friendships and touch the lives of those around her. Jane also gave generously of her time as a valued volunteer with Burke County Public Schools and CoMMA.
Above all else, Jane cherished her family. They were the center of her life and the source of her greatest happiness. Mimi especially treasured time spent with her grandchildren, of whom she was immensely proud. She never missed a game or event, loved picking them and their friends up from school, and cheering on the Wake Forest Demon Deacons. Her warmth, kindness, and love of a “party” will be remembered always by those who knew and loved her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Arthur Lewis Rigsbee, Jr.; and her brothers, Danny Wiley and William Thomas “Bill” Wiley, Jr.
Jane is survived by her sons, Michael Rigsbee and wife Melissa, and Keith Rigsbee and wife Traci; her treasured grandchildren, Jack, Finn, and Charlotte Rigsbee; her sister, Patsy Marshburn and husband Bill; as well as a number of beloved nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
A visitation will be held at First Presbyterian Church of Morganton on Saturday, May 30, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. A private service for the family will follow.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Missions Ministry of First Presbyterian Church of Morganton.
Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Keith and family, sorry to hear about the passing of your Mother!!
Dear Family, I fondly remember Jane and Lewis when members of Drexel First Baptist Church years ago. She exemplified a true Christian lady; mother and friend. I mourn with you during this time of grief and remembrance. May our Lord's presence fill all of you with His grace and peace.
Jane was an especially thoughtful and generous woman who I got to know through our shared membership at First Presbyterian Church. She was always positive, upbeat, and saw the best in others. She was always smiling. She was extremely kind to our daughter by baking cookies at church gatherings which met the requirements of our daughter's dietary restrictions. Jane went out of her way to make sure she wrote out the recipe for us so we could make them ourselves. I have only wonderful memories of the beautiful person she was.
Jane we will miss that beautiful smile and bigger than life personality. RiP dear friend.
