James T. Clemmer, Jr.

James T. Clemmer, Jr., 76, of Morganton, NC died Sunday, June 29, 2014. Born in Burke County, NC on May 3, 1938, he was the son of the late James Therrel Clemmer, Sr. and Mary Elizabeth Goode Clemmer. James was a member of First United Methodist Church. He was a graduate of Morganton High School and Lees-McRae College and served with the U.S. Army. James worked as a sales representative for mens clothing with several firms in Charlotte and Richmond. He also worked for many years at Burands and Spainhours before retiring from Benjamins.

Mr. Clemmer was an avid UNC Basketball fan and enjoyed spending time at Marco Island, FL. James’ nieces, grandnieces, and grandnephews gave him great joy.

James is survived by his children, Jason and Teresa; a sister, Rebecca C. Thomas and Michael Milinovich, if Cincinnati, OH; nieces, Elizabeth Lutow and her husband, Kolia, and Catherine Lennon; grandnephews and nieces, Zachary, Nicholas, Julia, and Kate; a dear friend, Debbie Greene Lamb; and a host of other cousins and friends.

The graveside service will be held at 12:15 p.m., Tuesday, July 1, 2014 at Forest Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Dr. John Fowler officiating. Military honors will be provided by the N.C. National Guard and the Caldwell County Veterans Honor Guard. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center.
