James Ronald Daves, 70, of Morganton NC died Saturday, March 5, 2016. Born in Richmond, VA on September 13, 1945, he was the son of the late Claude H. Daves and Willie Mae White Daves. James was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church and was a steward in the Methodist church. He loved the outdoors, especially gardening and fishing, and was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam War.
A loving husband, father, and grandfather, Mr. Daves is survived by his wife, Sandra McNeely Daves of the home; a son, Brock Anthony Daves of Glen Alpine, NC; a daughter, Heather Daves Propst and her husband, Shane, of Hickory, NC; grandchildren, Ethan Daves and Emery Propst; brothers, Wilton, Harold, and Marshall Daves, all of Morganton; and sisters, Marie Daves and Brenda Epley of Glen Alpine and Guinette “Edith” Hall of Morganton.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
