James Robert "Bob" Riley

James Robert "Bob" Riley, 67, of Drexel, NC died Monday, March 18, 2013. Born July 2, 1945 in Gaston County, NC, he was the son of Martha Imogene Caughron Glaser of Anderson, SC and the late Robert Lathern Riley. He was a US Air Force veteran. Bob was well-known as a little league coach of soccer and football teams. He also volunteered at the NC School for the Deaf. He enjoyed playing golf, and spending time on Lake James.A devoted and loving husband, father, and grandfather, Bob is survived by his wife of 47 years, Phyllis Holland Riley of the home; children, Karen Riley, James Riley, Jr. and partner , Regina Houston, and Nicki Riley-Styles and husband, Tim, all of Morganton, and Jason Riley and wife, Kelli of Washington, DC; grandchildren, Hunter Riley, Grace Riley, Sully Styles, and Ella Styles; and sisters, Terri Martin and husband, Bob, and Rhonda Sue Riley, all of Anderson, SC.The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff of Autumn Care for the care and compassion shown to Robert during his stay at the nursing home.A Celebration of James’s life will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, March 23, 2013 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center. Military rites will be conducted by the North Carolina National Guard. The family will receive friends Saturday from 10:00 until 11:00 am at the funeral home.
