James Norman Kincaid, 86, of Morganton died Tuesday, April 30, 2019. Born in Burke County, NC on August 4, 1932, he was the son of the late Herbert Alexander Kincaid and Martha Allice Jarrett Kincaid. James was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the US Marine Corps and loved his country. He enjoyed being outdoors and gardening.
A loving husband, father, and grandfather, James is survived by his wife of 28 years, Kathy Dale Kincaid; children, James Norman Kincaid, Jr. (Susan), Sherry Kincaid Barlow, Derek Kincaid (Tracey), and Bradley Kincaid (Becky); step-son, Lee Pritchard (Kim); grandchildren, Allen James “A.J.” Barlow (Sharon), Justin Kincaid, Landon Kincaid, Bella Pritchard Coffey, and L. J. Pritchard; great-grandchildren, Emily, Madison, Allison, and Alexander Barlow; brothers, Frank Kincaid (Shirley); brother-in-law, Gregory Dale; his many beloved nieces and nephews; and his canine companions, Hidie and Pee-Wee.
In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by a brother, Russell Kincaid; infant brother, Herbert Hunter Kincaid; sisters, Mary Virginia Tate and Millie Benfield; and son-in-law, Ricky Allen Barlow.
The family will receive friends from 12 to 1:30 p.m., Friday, May 3, 2019 at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. The funeral will follow at 1:30 p.m. in the church with Dr. Larry Cline and Rev. Marty Bess officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
