James Lyle Pierce, 79, of Morganton, NC, passed away Sunday, November 2, 2025.
Born in Carbondale, PA on May 28, 1946, he was the son of the late William and Ethel Pierce.
James was a veteran of the US Army. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and enjoyed gardening and working in his yard. He loved watching television and was known to “tv surf.”
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 50 years, Jean Hand Pierce; sons, Dallas Talbott and John Pierce (Starla); daughter, Jennifer Talbott Fowler; grandchildren, Felecia Childers, Alex Nunez, Annabelle Talbott, Michaela Pierce, Jeremy Garcia, and Jared Garcia; and a great-grandson, Gunner Childers.
No services are planned at this time.
Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Sincere sympathy and love to all. I so appreciate all my memories of and with my dear cousin Jimmy especially those times in Fort Meade and at our Grandparents house in Pennsylvania. Being military brats, it was always especially happy times when we were together. Love to all.
I’m so sad to hear of James passing. He was always so kind to me and gave me a warm smile even on his hard days. I’m wishing peace and comfort during the days ahead to this family I have grown to care for so much ! Grief is a heart wrenching pain which is the evidence of our love.
