James “Jim” Maynard Hottle Jr. of Morganton, NC, passed away peacefully with family by his side on December 14, 2022. He was a devoted husband and father. While employed he drove a tractor-trailer, surveyed timber, and retired from Broughton Hospital. Jim was a Ruritan Club member, attended church, and loved bicycling. He will be greatly missed by those who loved him.

Surviving family members: wife, Ilene Hottle; son, David and wife Beom Nyo; daughter, Jessica and husband Randy; son, Alexander and wife Kimberly; grandchildren, Kevin, Raechel; two sisters, 1 brother.

Jim was proceeded in death by his father, James Maynard Hottle of Maynor, WV; mother, Julia Vernetta of Page, WV; a stepfather, 1 sister, 1 brother.

The family will receive friends from 1-2pm, Wednesday, December 21, 2022 at Glen Alpine First Baptist Church. The funeral will be held in the church at 2pm, with the Rev John Terry officiating. Entombment will follow at Burke Memorial Park Mausoleum. Military honors will be provided by the NC National Guard and the Caldwell County Veterans Honor Guard.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
