James Clyde "J.C." Costner, 82, of Mooresville, NC died Monday, June 16, 2014 at the Brian Center of Mooresville. "J.C." was born February 11, 1932 in Caldwell County to the late Clyde Cecero Costner and Elsie Margaret Lambert Jacumin. He was a member of Bollingers Chapel United Methodist Church and served in the US Army for over 15 years. For several years he worked as a truck driver for W.M. Cramer Lumber Co. and for Carolina Freight. He was a member of the Teamsters and a Mason. He loved baseball and was an avid Braves fan.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his step-father, Alvin Jacumin and his sister, Johnsie Pruitt.

"J.C." is survived by his wife, of 61 years, Ethel Beach Costner; son, Danny Andrew Costner and wife, Krystal of Mooresville; daughter, Tammy Louise Schuler and husband, Mark of Marion; grandson, Andrew Finley James Costner; granddaughters, Natasha Evonne Benfield and husband, Brian and Kristie Street; great-granddaughters, Patience and Aubrey Benfield; and a sister, Merlene Long and husband, Bob of Longview, NC.

A funeral service will be held at 4:00 p.m., Sunday, June 22, 2014 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with the Rev. George Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Bollingers Chapel United Methodist Church with military honors provided by the NC National Guard and the Caldwell County Veterans Honor Guard. The family will receive friend from 2:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Brian Center, 752 E Center Ave, Mooresville, NC 28115.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
