Jack Allen Jaquins, 84, of Vine St., Morganton, died Monday, April 13, 2009, at his residence following a period of declining health. He was born in Burke County on February 10, 1925 and was the son of the late Ned Osborne Jaquins and Flora King Jaquins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Earl Neal and Max Osborne Jaquins. Jack was a U. S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II. Jack also served in the National Guard and the US Navy Reserve. He retired from Shadowline, Inc. and was a member of Friendship Baptist Church.Jack will be remembered as a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and brother by his wife of 56 years, Betty Hildebran Jaquins of the home; by his son, David Allen Jaquins, and his wife, Myra, of Morganton; grandsons, D. J. Jaquins of Valdese and Michael Adam Jaquins and his wife, Amber, of Drexel; a sister, Dorothy Cash Scott, of Hickory; a sister-in-law, Joretta Smith Jaquins of Asheville; nephews, James Steven Cash of Hickory and James Allen Jaquins of Drexel; and twin nieces, Andrea Serette of Pittsburg, PA and Audrea Thye of Charlotte.The funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 15, 2009, in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with Rev. Max Baker officiating. Burial will follow at Burke Memorial Park with military honors conducted by Valdese American Legion Post 234 ceremonial team. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Sossoman Funeral Home.
