Jack Alexander Lambert, 92 of Morganton, NC died Saturday, November 22, 2014.  He was born in Burke County on April 11, 1922 to the late Bascom Asbury Lambert and Effie Curtis Lambert.

Jack was a WWII veteran serving with General Patton’s 3rd Army from North Africa and throughout Europe.  His company formed such a tight bond that many stayed in touch and visited through the years until age and failing health prevented them from doing so.  He was extremely proud of his war service.

Jack was a graduate of Drexel High School and Catawba Valley Community College.  From 1948 until 2005, he operated Lambert Radio Company, Lambert Used Cars, and Lambert Camping Center.

Jack is survived by his children, Bob Lambert, Jack Lambert, Mary Ann Ritchie, and John Lambert; grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Jack is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Alice Lambert; a son, Karl Alexander Lambert; sisters, Eula Hallyburton, Ann Mulwee, and Delma Riddle; and brothers, Virgil, Earl, Orville, Harold, Clyde, and Rondal Lambert.

The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 26, 2014 at Summit Community Church (formerly Calvary Baptist Church) with the Rev. David Orders and Pastor Mike Chandler officiating. Burial will follow in Drexel Memorial Park with military honors provided by the N.C. National Guard and the Caldwell County Veterans Honor Guard.  The body will lie in state at the church thirty minutes prior to the service.

Memorial contributions may be made to Veterans of Foreign Wars.

The family would like to express special thanks to Ron and Ann Woodby and the entire staff of Morganton Long Term Care for the many years of loving care for their father.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
