J. C. Nicholson

J. C. Nicholson, 77, of Lincolnton died Wednesday, May 10, 2017.  Born in Clarkesville, GA on January 14, 1940, he was the son of the late Ernest Nicholson and Blanche Ledford Nicholson.  Mr. Nicholson served 9.5 years with the U.S. Army, including two tours in Vietnam.  He was a block, brick, and rock mason and loved fishing and gardening.  He also enjoyed NASCAR racing and was an avid fan of Dale Earnhardt.

A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, J. C. is survived by his children, Brian Keith Nicholson of Morganton, Sean Eugene Nicholson (Sylvia) of Maiden, and Sandra Nicholson Anderson (Brandon) of Cana, VA; a daughter-in-law, Donna Nicholson; grandchildren, Jessica Miller, Sean Michael Nicholson, Bryson Lee, Joshua Nicholson, Kaleb Nicholson, Matthew Nicholson, Jacob Nicholson, and Morgan Nicholson; a great-grandson, Nathan Miller; brothers, Bill Nicholson of Supply, NC and Don Nicholson of Maiden; sisters, Lillian Nicholson of Vale and Carol Nicholson of Hickory; and numerous nieces, nephews, other extended family, and friends.

In addition to his parents, J. C. was preceded in death by his wife, Betty F. Nicholson; a son, J. C. Nicholson, Jr.; a sister, Peggy Nicholson; and 2 brothers, Harold and Bob Nicholson.

A graveside service will be held at 2pm, Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Black Mountain, NC.  Military honors will be provided by the N.C. National Guard and the Caldwell County Veterans Honor Guard.
