Ivey Van Smith, 32, of Flat Rock, NC died Saturday, April 23, 2016. Ivey was born June 2, 1983 in Burke County to the late Ralph Gene Smith and Lela Elizabeth Carswell Smith. He loved interior design, art, drawing and hair styling. Ivey was a member of Souls Harvest Church.
Ivey is survived by his wife, Virginia Marie Garnhum Smith; son, Daniel Issac Smith ; daughter, Samara “Sassy” Marie Smith both of Kentucky; sisters, Kimberley Stamey of Valdese, and Betty Elizabeth Hardin and husband, John of Morganton; and nieces and nephews, Selena Smith, Tyler Stamey, Jewel Stamey and Wesley Hardin.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., Thursday, April 28, 2016 at Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center. The funeral will be at 5:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Reverends Kevin Purcell and Steve Parker officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in Valdese.
