Irene Barlow, 80 of Morganton, NC went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, April 26, 2025. She was born on September 17, 1944 in Burke County to the late Arthur Russ and Edna Costner Russ. She was a homemaker and loved to cook. Irene managed the Eckerds Drug Store near the Roses Plaza and worked in several textile plants. She will be missed by all. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Shawn Russ Barlow; grandson, John Barlow. She is survived by her former husband, Thomas Edward Barlow; son, Kevin Barlow (Evelyn); grandson, Michael Russ; great-grandson, Luke Jerald Barlow; sister, Bernice Ondesko (Joseph); and many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 1pm-2pm, Friday, May 2, 2025 at Sossoman Funeral Home. The funeral will begin at 2pm in the Colonial Chapel of the funeral home with Dr. Jack Hodges officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements. My very best friend she is truly missed I’m glad she’s in heaven now with her mom Edna I miss her very much much and her dad I never met him but I heard stories about him, her son Shaun and grandson John Barlow is missed as well Her family was like a second family to me her and I were friends for 29 years I loved her dearly
