Hugh “Tom” Thomas, 67 of Morganton, NC passed away, Monday, April 28, 2025. Born on May 11, 1957, in Marion, Indiana, he was the son of the late Hugh and Clarine Thomas. Tom was raised in the Methodist Faith. He was a recipient of the Eagle Scout Award. Tom loved to work in his garden, hunt, and fish. For 35 years, Tom had worked at Dana Corporation, later known as Sypris Solutions. Tom was a loving husband and father who will be missed dearly.
Tom is survived by his wife of 49 years, Jill Thomas, Daughter Rian Gregory (Brian), son Cody Thomas; grandchildren, Briana and Austin Gregory; brother, Terry Thomas (Jeanne); sister, Sandy Aurs (Larry); Goddaughter, Karyssa Largent; brother-in-law, Harry (Steve) Hudson; sisters-in-law, Ricky Lynn Tucker (Mike), Kylee Kaufman: and many nieces, nephews and extended family.
In addition to his parents, Hugh H. Thomas Sr. and Clarine Thomas, he was preceded in death by his in-laws, Howard and Darlene Hudson; brother-in-law, Timothy Hudson.
Services will be held at a later date in Indiana.
Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.

I knew Hugh from Dana for many years. He was a nice guy who will be missed. I am very saddened to hear he has passed.
