Hubert Donald "Pete" Church

Hubert Donald "Pete" Church, 86, of Morganton, NC died Tuesday, April 19, 2011 at Burke Palliative Care Center. Born in Wilkes County, NC on May 30, 1924, he was the son of the late Grandvill L. Church and Grace Jennings Church.Hubert is survived by his wife, Dollie Gertrude Rash Church of the home; a son, Raymond "Cotton" Church and wife, Lisa, of Morganton; grandchildren, Andrea Grace Johnson and husband, Bo, and Caroline Rae Church; sisters, Gladys Tripplet of Lenoir, NC and Betty Weddle and husband, James, of Orlando, FL; and a number of nieces and nephews.In addition to his parents, Hubert was preceded in death by her brother, James Lee Church; a sister, Lucy Hodge; and a grandson, Phillip Church.The funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 22, 2011 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens in Lenoir. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Burke Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc., 1721 Enon Road, Valdese, NC 28690.
