Howard Woodie, 90, of Charlotte, passed away Monday, September 21, 2015. A proud WW II Marine Veteran, he received a Purple Heart for being wounded at Iwo Jima on the day the flag was raised.
Mr. Woodie is survived by daughters, Elaine Bass (Danny), and Lisa Woodie (Dana Burnette); grandchildren Sandie Bass-Ringdahl (Joel), Debbie Baysinger (Jamey); April Holmes (Fred); and seven great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Howard was preceded in death by his wife, Katie; daughter, Dianne; and ten siblings.
The funeral will be held at 12:00 pm, Friday, September 25, 2015 at Jonas Ridge United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.
