Howard Lee Wilson

Howard Lee Wilson, 86, of Morganton, NC passed away Friday, April 17, 2026 after a period of declining health.

Born in Burke County, NC on February 26, 1940, he was the son of the late Edward Lee Wilson and Fannie Williams Wilson.

Howard was stationed in Germany while he served two years in the US Army. He worked for Carolina Shoe for over 25 years and retired from Henredon in 2002. Mr. Wilson enjoyed pitching horseshoes, fishing, billiards, softball, and poker. He enjoyed watching sports of all kinds and partaking of the occasional adult beverage.

Those left to cherish his memory include his son, Michael Wilson (Misha); grandchildren, Matthew Wilson (Ciara), Kristian Wilson, and Kayla Wilson; and great-grandchildren, Jack and Lily Wilson.

In addition to his parents, Howard was preceded in death by his six brothers, Vernon, Clarence, Kenneth, Carl, Earl, and Johnny Wilson; and two sisters, Wilma Wright and Mary Leonhardt.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, April 22, 2026 at Sossoman Funeral Home. All other services will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions should be made to any cancer research charity you feel is worthy.
