Marine Veteran, Howard Jackson Mull, 84, of Morganton, NC passed away Monday, March 29, 2021 at his residence. Born in Burke County on October 18, 1936, he was the son of the late John Jackson (Jack) and Callie Mae Duckworth Mull.

Howard was a Corporal E-4 with the 1833 Company A Second Amtrac Platoon in the Marines for 6 years. He enjoyed working on a ranch in Washington State, he later worked and then became owner of the Mull Brothers Grocery. He also enjoyed deep-sea fishing at the coast.

Howard is survived by his wife of 58 years, Rebecca (Becky) Mull; one daughter, Barbara McFalls and husband, Jeremy; and one brother, Roger Mull of Irmo, SC. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Howard was preceded in death by his infant son and sister, Donnell Davis.

The family will gather with friends for a graveside service at Mt. Home Baptist Church Cemetery at 2:00pm on Saturday, April 3, 2021 with Rev. Jerry Gamble officiating.

Military Honors will be provided by Caldwell County Veterans Honor Guard. 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Humane Society of Burke County or a charity of one’s choice.                         Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
